BEHIND THE BRAND.
About
Letter from the Founder
I don’t want you to buy my products. I don’t care if you never buy my products. I care that you have skin that you feel confident in. I care that we protect our planet and all of life on it. If you buy products from other brands that truly live these ethics and that work wonders for your skin, I will feel exceedingly happy and fulfilled.
Why? Because skincare is personal. It’s so personal. Our skin is so unique. We are made of the same organic matter and yet no one’s skin is like the other. That’s the tough part. How to heal skin that is one of a kind.
If you have perfect skin, you will never think about your skin. You’ll go about your day and feel confident about yourself, your skills, your talents, your impression on others. You’ll do whatever you want to do on that day and your skin will not stand in your way.
Those of us with imperfect skin know what it’s like to have skin stand in our way. We wake up in the morning, our faces full of scars, acne, discoloration, hyperpigmentation, dry patches, the list goes on. And when we walk out our door all we can think about is our skin. We spend so much time, money and energy trying to fix our skin. We are in physical pain because of our skin. Imagine what it would be like to never have to think about your skin.
This is why I created WOOD Cosmetics. I want to be the thing that makes you never have to think about your skin. I studied research paper after research paper to create evidence based skincare. I spent countless hours on the course of multiple years experimenting with my collaborators in laboratories. I spent years testing out every possible combination on my own skin and the skin of my loved ones. I did this for myself, to help my own skin. Then I fell in love with the process and I decided to take these little creations and turn them into skincare for people like you.
And it’s not just about skin. It’s about our beautiful incredible planet. It’s about the people on this planet: the minimum wage workers handling toxic castor beans so that we can have affordable castor oil in our skincare. It’s about the children in mines in India, forced to live their childhoods working illegally to put mica in your makeup. This is why we will never purchase ingredients from controversial sources that reduce the quality of life for people in developing countries. This is why we make careful ethical choices about what goes into our skincare. This is why our products are vegan, cruelty free, why we purchase from suppliers exclusively in the European Union where animal testing in cosmetics is prohibited. This is why we will be the first brand of skincare in Croatia that has a return and refill policy for all of our glass packaging. We don’t just want to reduce energy and waste by recycling. We want to reduce it even more by reusing.
I don’t want to sell you skincare. I want to invite you to join in our cause. Our cause of protecting our planet and all of life on it. I want to invite you to make careful decisions about the products you buy and how they will impact our world. And I want to give you freakin awesome skincare so you can do all the incredible things you want to do and never ever have to think about your skin.
Welcome to WOOD Cosmetics where you will always be loved and cherished. I hope you find what you need here. I hope you find what you believe here.
Love,
Ana-Marija Saric
